The Scarf, Aster Manor and Crab Apples

My first scarf is finished!!  It is going to keep me very warm.  It's about 60" long.  I just kept knitting and knitting, figured it was better to use it and have a very long scarf than stop and have a little ball of yard leftover and nothing to do with it.

In between housework and other stuff I've been working on A.Manor. The sashing strips are all together along the right side.  The 2 bottom rows are already sewn together. I did that right away to get the bottom row off the floor, since Annie thinks fabric of any kind on the floor is her cue to make a nest!

I only put together 1 block a day this week, the log cabin one on the left; hoping to catch up on those today and tomorrow.

The block on the right is my sample block for my next L/E using 2" squares. The quilt is called Crab Apples by B. Hunter. It's in her latest book, Adventures with Leaders and Enders.   However, the blocks in her quilt are smaller since she used 1.5" squares.   I wanted to use 2" squares to make the blocks finish 12".  So that meant re-sizing the paper piece pattern for the trunk part of the block!

It actually worked and since the p.pc. section is only 4 fabrics I was able to make it the first time correctly!  :)

 

Design Wall Monday Week 5

I have crumbs on my design wall!  This is the first time I've ever tried these.  It's fun. I didn't have a big pile of little crumb pieces so I think I'll get a few more made and then they will have to be put aside until I accumulate some more.
I cut each little block to 5".  I think I'm going to sew them together into 9-patch blocks as I have them on the wall now.

So this is my blog. It's a quilting blog, but I don't just quilt. So this is going to be a little look at what I think about in a day/week whatever. It should be mostly quilty but for example right now I'm thinking of our little dog Otis.Hubby cut the grass  it has been cold and the grass is covered with dew....

So Mister Otis comes in from his morning duties with green feet, both stained and with little tiny grass clippings stuck to his fur.

Today I am marking a quilt top that I made in 2004, I think. It's a sampler but the setting is different leaving 4 large corner triangle areas. I've never quilted it partly (mostly) because the thoughts of all that hand quilting in those triangles was overwhelming. Now I have the HQ and it's time to finish this. I drafted a feather pattern yesterday and today am going to just mark the spines of the feathers on the top and then load it. I'll just free-hand the feathers. But I wanted to flow of the spines to at least be uniform when the quilt is done.
Tomorrow, I take my Folk art quilt to the drop off point (at 7:30AM!) for the Beaver Valley Piece makers show this weekend. It's about 45 minute drive, that's so early for me. (whine, whine, whine). Meghan was going to go with me, then we'll have breakfast on the way home, but she's really sick now, flu like so I may be going alone. Thank goodness for the GPS and Nyquil/Dayquil for Meg!
Also today, I will work on the diamond string quilt that is on my design wall I think I have 24 more blocks to make I know I have enough strips cut for another one.
