September 9th

                 This is my wall.  

Eleven rows of twenty-three! Almost half way there! This should finish 90 x 90. I am cutting the 60* triangles from 4 1/2 inch strips.  I tried to use all stash but have had to buy some more greys.

I made this HST quilt from all the leftovers from the Swoon raffle quilt.

I plan on donating it to the show boutique for sale. 

                

Another recent finish is my practice wagon wheel wall quilt. The background is osnaburg fabric and it quilted very nicely.  I did have to un sew a few times and that was NOT fun with the looser weave but it was do able.

          The pieced back.

I have just started quilting my batik NYB. I entered it in the guild show, so it must get finished!!  Nothing like a dead line!

Although I promised myself I would get my own quilts done, it really hasn't happened yet.  Besides the two I made for gifts already. The guild's bi-annual show is in November.  I need to get cracking!

I finished Libby's quilt. 

 Wonky feathers on this star quilt- it was a thangles pattern, Dottie really didn't care for it.  But I just love the simplicity of it and the border.

Lois' quilt with an all over 'water ripples' pattern.  I've made this pattern and quilted it for several customers over the past years-I think it's a very versatile pattern.  

It makes a very cool quilt.

A Christmas Quilt (aggghh not ready for that!!)

Last month we said goodbye to Annie.

She really was the sweetest, gentlest dog ever.

Dang I miss her.

Jo comes into the house and calls for her  "Annie? ... Annie?

I say, "Annie's all gone" 

She can't say Otis yet, so she's started calling him annie;

which makes me smile and feel sad all at once.

July 2015

On May 26 our son was ordained to the diaconate!!

It was a very special evening for us and his order; The Oratory of St. Phillip Neri. 

With Bishop Zubik after the ceremony.

And no my husband rarely smiles for the camera- but I promise he's a happy guy in real life-😁

Here is Paul deaconing at Mass with Fr Zach at our home parish.

In June we went to the Outer Banks for a week. Our son Paul drove down with me. Husband, Paul and his sister and her husband rode down on the bikes. We had a great time. We rented wave runners-so much fun!!! I laughed like a kid. (Which is necessary occasionally I think to maintain sanity!!) 💦

Back at home it's been a rainy soggy summer. Besides my usual customer quilts, I had two of my own that had to get finished.

This one was an ordination gift for our Parish Deacon Zach, who was ordained to the  priesthood in June here in the Pittsburgh diocese. I sewed the label on two days before I had to wrap it--no pressure!!

The  other quilt is for my nieces first baby.  A girl!

The shower is today actually and the quilt has been done for a week! Yay!

From her registry I gathered that the colors are pink, lavender and grey. I used part of a Tula Pink FQ bundle and some Kona solids all from my stash!

 

 The back is pieced from stash as well!

Libby's Henrietta whiskers- I custom quilted it for her.

Lois' beautiful Batik quilt that I can't remember the pattern name.

She just wanted an edge to edge design, but always tells me to do what I want. So I did a little ruler work and the E2E pattern as a fill in the center star. She was really happy with it (me too-whew)

I am currently working on custom quilting this ADORABLE quilt of Libby's 

I don't usually take a before picture but wanted to compare it to the after-who knows why!

Little Miss Jo is growing up too fast! 

As I know you grandmas can relate!

We've been to  Kennywood -and rode lotsa rides!

Played her version of corn hole- on a rainy 4th of July!

And have, while babysitting, started her on her way to a healthy shoe addiction!(haha-I kid) wearing my tennis shoes was her idea!!

     Based on the pattern by Tula Pink 

          I drafted my letters on graph paper and paper pieced.  Kaffe fabrics for the letters, a white Swiss dot and a Marcia Durse for the alternate backgrounds.

          Should be doing other stuff but this was so much fun!

I did get the binding done on the Mod Squad Wonky Stars Quilt I shared last month but still haven't quilted the blue baby quilt and my NYBeauty.

These are quilt donation quilts- I took home the kits the committee had already cut and just had to sew them up and quilt them!!  Here is 2 of the 3 I made. 

I finished all the wedge blocks and decided on the fabric for the center circles and even got all of them blanket stitched!!

I need to get them back up on the wall and a final layout figured out.

I just put together this quilt, it's a gift. (Shhhh)!!

I want to make every quilt in this book!

Every quilt is reversible too-so you get twice the patterns all pretty easy and use jelly rolls.  I didn't use a jelly roll for this one - I think I cut 8 FQ ( from my stash) which I then pieced to get the length and continued from there!

In spite of attending two Penguins games and cheering my head off, it wasn't enough!  

The weather has not yet been warm enough on the days our schedules were free for the first bike ride....

We have been enjoying the grands -Jade is 10!! Yikes.

 And I was there for Jo's first haircut!! Just cut the bangs so we can see her pretty eyes!

My batik NYBeauty is finally, really done!

I am so glad I added the outside border and that I had just enough of the black/blue background fabric to make it with...sweated a little near the end.

And now it waits to be quilted.

We had a blast on the guilds retreat. I finished this baby quilt top - it's waiting to be quilted.

              And made good progress in the blocks for  this one.

     I've been diligently piecing additional blocks as time permits. I am the using Simple  Marks line from Malka Dubrawsky and Grunge "marshmallow" for the background.  Still deciding on what to use for the circle appliqués...I have some time for that!

And I put together the four blocks I made with osnaburg for the background.

         I was only going to make one; a pillow then I made two ... Three and who needs three pillows the same 

Some things never change with me.

Not sure if I showed the mod squad group quilt so I'll throw it in, still need to finish the binding on it. Sigh.
